Three things you might hear Dr. Mesbah say:
"I work for MY PATIENTS... not for the insurance companies, not for a gigantic corporate "healthcare" system."
"I will take care of you how you want to be taken care of."
"I'm not your mom; I'm not a police officer, a juror or your judge; I'm not your nosey neighbor, I'm not a gossip collumnist, I'm not your middle school principle, I'm not your boss... I'm your doctor... Thats it. I'm just here to take the best care of you that I possibly can."
I’m Dr. Hossain Alexander Mesbah, a family physician and Founder of 217 Medicine Direct.
I was born and raised in Springfield, Illinois - a product of District 186 schools - and earned my undergraduate degree at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. I studied medicine at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, where I fell in love with family medicine: caring for people from all walks of life, through every season of it.
I completed my training at SIU’s Quincy Family Medicine Residency. I have worked in nearly every healthcare setting — outpatient clinics, nursing homes, emergency rooms, and hospitals — and loved every minute of it.
Over time, I realized that the healthcare system often gets in the way of what really matters. I started 217 Medicine Direct to strip things back to what’s essential: just you and your doctor, face to face.
I believe in transparency and compassion- in care that’s human, honest, and rooted in trust. I promise to listen carefully and always recommend what I believe is in your best interest, and to stay in your corner no matter what you choose.
Outside of medicine, I enjoy writing poetry, reading, listening to music, and spending time with friends and family. I love to cook and I'm an enthusiastic golfer. I have too many sneakers and I'm always excited to learn something new.
217 Medicine Direct is more than a business to me — it’s a way to practice medicine that feels true. I’m grateful for the chance to serve my community and put the patient first.
